Lorraine's High Tea
This year's Lorraine's High Tea was a great success. There were 80 women who attend and 4,500 dollars was raised o support the mission of the Hughson Family Resource Center. The women who attended were able to socialize and have a good time, as well as honor two wonderful women who have worked hard to push our mission forward.
Hannah Lee![]() Hannah has a compassionate heart. As a young child she had difficulty witnessing others in pain and difficulties and would often cry when her siblings or friends cried. This coupled with her outgoing personality has motivated her to volunteer in our community and share her talents with others. Much of Hannah’s service has been for various programs of the Hughson Family Resource Center (HFRC) and as vice-chair of the Hughson Youth Council (HYC) which is sponsored by the HFRC. As the HYC vice chair, she helped plan activities to provide clean, safe fun for youth in Hughson. The highlight of her council work was to help lead the Underage Drinking Prevention Initiative, including the promotion of a Social Host Ordinance. It was a triumph when the proposed ordinance was unanimously passed by the Hughson City Council, making it illegal for any adult to allow minors to consume drugs or alcohol. |
Cindy Morphy ![]() Cindy was born and raised in Modesto to Bob and Pat Baker. She attended Brigham Young University and and received a Master's Degree in Communication disorders. Cindy and her husband Mark have raised 5 children, and now have 11 beautiful grandchildren. Cindy has always been actively involved in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She has had great opportunities to serve in her church as well as in teh community. Cindy has served on the PTA and on the Gratton School Board for 14 years. Cindy stated, "Serving on the Hughson Family Resource Center board has added richness to my life. I first knew about the Hughson Family Resource Center working as a SLP in the schools. Working with parents helped me to see that most parents desire so much for their children, but they don't have the resources, knowledge or the means. It became a natural fit to have information about the HFRC at all of the parent meetings that I held. The Center has all the information to help parents and families to be successful. The mission of the HFRC is to provide services to our communities that will help families thrive and flourish. It is an honor to receive this award from such a noble organization!" |
