2012 Christmas Basket Project

Every year the community comes together with hundreds of volunteers and donors to provide Christmas for the less fortunate. A special thanks to the volunteers that made for such a successful event. Without the hundred plus volunteers, this magnificent program would not be able to continue. We completed the preparation and delivery this year from 12-17-2012 through 12-21-2012 w/ delivery day being 12-22-2012. Although it was an awfully wet day w/ continuous showers during the entire time we were delivering, we had a wonderful turnout from volunteers, drivers and kids helping load vehicles included. Several kids did not have "rain gear" so with the suggestion and guidance of our own Sam Vaughn, he assisted them in fashioning rain coats out of Glad Garbage Bags which helped them keep somewhat dry. We ended up serving 385 families for the 2012 Christmas Basket Project.
We have already reserved St. Anthony's Hughes Hall for 12-16-2013 through 12-20-2013 w/ delivery being on 12-21-2013 from 9-noon.


To accomplish this huge task the planning began in August with community meetings.Committees were formed from the volunteers. Suppliers were contacted. Donor letters were readied and mailed for donation of cash and commodities for the baskets.
St Anthony’s Catholic Church graciously donates Hughes Hall to organize all the items. Tables are set up with hundreds of boxes as volunteers coordinate recipient’s names as to size of families and age of children.

Toys are gathered and organized to facilitate matching gender and age. All is readied to deliver the Saturday before Christmas. Volunteers with pickup trucks arrive that morning and deliver to homes of the family in need.
