Summer Camp 2009
Hughson Family Resource Center promotes family activities such as reading writing and communication in fun and productive ways. Our summer camp was for the whole family and ran from June 15th to July 1st.
Our LITTLE TIKES CAMP was for children three through five. Sierra Vista Child and Family Services provided early intervention activites to get children ready for school and eager to learn.
SEUSS TO SUCCESS CAMP was for children in the first to fifth grade. Friends of the Hughson Library,and Hughson Family Resource Center Youth Council helped children create their own story books. These stories have been published together into a community book. This age group also learned to use the library and developed reading comprehension skills.
PARENT CAMP gave parents ideas for fun and affordable family activities and family strategies to strengthen the family. Other skill learned were family communication, fa
mily cooperation, choices and rules, nurturing discipline techniques and nutritional family meals and snacks.
Partners for this event included Sierra Vista Child & Family Services, Healthy Start of Hughson Unified School District and Friends of the Hughson Library, and Stanislaus County Children & Families Commission.
